The use of lumbar braces is not recommended to avoid the appearance of pain in low back pain.
The lumbar brace works by compressing the area and helping the muscles affected by low back pain not do their job accurately. This reduces pain, but by preventing the natural functioning of the muscles, it will weaken further, leaving the lumbar spine even more unstable.
Pain or discomfort located between the lower edge of the last ribs and the lower fold of the gluteal area, with or without radiation to one or both legs, can limit activities of daily living and can cause absenteeism from work.

Multidisciplinary treatment, application and evaluation of interventions are recommended in the care of a patient with low back pain, including exercises, workplace visits, ergonomic advice and behavioral treatments.
